  • The consistently female-dominated workforce.
  • The characterisation of therapists’ work as women’s work.
  • Occupational segregation and the feminisation of therapists’ work.

Where we're at – Term 2, 2023

We are currently at the assessment phase.

The Pay Equity claim for Therapists in the education sector was raised by NZEI Te Riu Roa in November 2020. This covers Therapists employed by school boards and the Ministry of Education. Interviews for the claim were completed in May 2022 and therapists were asked for feedback on the General Areas of Responsibility. Currently a gender-neutral assessment of claimants and comparators is being undertaken.
