Kia pūmau tonu te reo Māori Scholarship is a legacy scholarship established by the generous donation of the National Association of Resource Teachers Advisory Māori (NARTAM). It supports kaiako who are NZEI Te Riu Roa members working in Māori-medium and Kaupapa Māori education settings, and who are undertaking a recognised qualification in te reo Māori. The scholarship does not cover ECE services. One scholarship will be awarded annually.
The scholarship aims to strengthen te reo Māori proficiency and pedagogical practice across the Māori-medium education sector, in line with NARTAM’s enduring commitment to Māori language revitalisation and educational excellence.
The ECE and Support Staff Scholarships are set up to advance the strategic direction of NZEI Te Riu Roa by providing an opportunity for early childhood education and support staff members to enhance their skills and knowledge within the workplace and in education generally.
Updated application guidelines, selection criteria, and application forms will be available from Term 1 2027.

Scholarships cannot be used to reimburse money already spent on projects or study.
