About the role:

 

 

We are looking for an experienced researcher who can investigate education policy, legislation, funding, workforce issues as well as scan the education and political environments to produce information to inform NZEI Te Riu Roa’s campaign priorities. You will communicate the outcomes of your investigation widely, whether in reports or articles, to academics, sector bodies, external agencies, political parties and key individuals.

 

You will work to:

  • Undertake research and investigation of technical, quantitative and financial information on key issues related to NZEI Te Riu campaigns

  • Analyse the environment in which the union operates and develop strategies and plans to inform campaign and negotiation strategies

 

Skills and experience:

 

Your work is grounded in union values, a commitment to Te Tiriti and the building of workers’ power. We value experience in a union or movement-related campaign role as well as having:

 

 

  • Outstanding investigative skills

  • A background in investigative reporting or research

  • A good understanding of education sector and industrial relations

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

NZEI Te Riu Roa is a Te Tiriti based organising and campaigning union of members who work together locally and nationally to achieve the best possible education system for tamariki and the people who work in it.
