About the role:
We are looking for a Member Advisory Officer to join our Te-Whanganui-a-Tara based team. You will report to a Lead - Member Support Centre and your role includes:
Answering calls and emails from members seeking advice on their employment or membership
Analysing individual issues and giving advice based on legislation, collective agreements and union organising skills
Documenting interactions within the CRM (membership database)
Positively contributing within a small team to ensure queries are answered in a timely manner and while phone lines are open (8.30am-5pm)
Using call skills to ensure a positive member experience
Skills and experience:
An understanding of employment/industrial context in Aotearoa
Experience working in union or social-impact organisation
Working in a team with rostered breaks to ensure phone lines are covered
An interest in publicly-funded education, commitment to Te Tiriti, unionism and social justice
Demonstrated ability to work flexibly to achieve team’s work, as well as work independently on member’s issues
Analytical skills to identify issues in complex scenarios, as well as numerical confidence in working through backpay or underpayment issues.
Experience in an operational, customer-service or call-centre environment
Empowering individuals with the skills to solve their workplace problems.
