What is the Government recommending?
Every child deserves quality early childhood education. However, for years the sector has been in crisis with a serious teacher shortage, unmanageable workloads, and teacher-to-child ratios that don’t give tamariki the the quality teaching time they deserve.
Instead of solving these challenges, the Government is now recommending changes as part of its ECE Regulatory Review that prioritise profit over quality education for tamariki. It means getting rid of or amending certain requirements, such as:
