Their rejection follows other strong recent "No" votes from primary teachers, primary principals, teacher aides, administration staff, librarians, kaiārahi i te reo, therapists, science technicians and other school staff. NZEI Te Riu Roa has informed the Ministry of Education of the outcome of the ballot. While PPTA Te Wehengarua members voted to accept the terms of settlement, the rejection by NZEI Te Riu Roa members means the offer has not been ratified. As a result, all parties - NZEI Te Riu Roa, PPTA Te Wehengarua, and the Ministry - will now return to the bargaining table. NZEI Te Riu Roa negotiations team member Maihi Parkinson says: "We will continue to work in kotahitanga with PPTA Te Wehengarua to achieve the best deal possible for all area school teachers." |
